hello I'm Sarah

I have always had the biggest soft spot for animals.  As a kid I was always turning up with a stray animal that would inevitably end up living with us, once I'd convinced my parents.  I still do this but it’s my partner I have to convince now! My career in Nursing took me down a different career path but my passion for animals, especially dogs, has never left me.

It was when I got my first rescue pup from the Dogs Home that my passion for dog training was ignited.  Hollie, my kelpie cross, came into our life like a ginger whirlwind, with sharp teeth and BIG emotions about the world.  I thought I knew about dogs, having grown up with them all my life, but this pup showed me otherwise.  A super smart puppy with heaps of energy, she could jump over any fence in her way, was as fast as lightning, and would spin in circles in the air whilst grabbing your clothes and occasionally your skin, ow!

I was lost and overwhelmed and found the internet so full of strange conflicting advice, it was hard to know where to start.  Luckily, I came across an amazing reward-based dog trainer and asked for help (through tears!!) and the rest is history!

My journey to help Hollie brought me to gain a Certificate IV in ‘Animal Behaviour and Training’ through Applied Vocational Training (AVT) and the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) and, with it, an absolute passion for helping people and their pups.  I know firsthand what it is like living with a dog with issues and how lonely and overwhelming it can feel.  I feel so passionate and lucky to be able to work with people to help them get the best from life with their best friend.

‘hello dog’ prides itself on being a safe place for everyone – work with me and you will find a non-judgmental, safe and compassionate space for learning and training all things dog.

I am so proud of the fact that my training is effective and gets results without using force, fear or intimidation.

Get in touch and let me know how I can help you!
